I have pain after surgery, what can I do to relieve my pain?

After surgery, frequently there is some freezing in the area. Take pain medication before the freezing completely wears off. Often pain medication is prescribed after surgery. Tylenol, anti-inflammatories and narcotic pain medication is prescribed frequently together. Use ice, compression, elevation to help with pain. I am having trouble sleeping after surgery, what can I do to improve this?

Sleep disruption after surgery is common. It improves with time. Reducing pain helps with sleep after surgery. Some over the counter remedies can help such a melatonin.


I am concerned about my dressing or my incision, what should I do?

A little bit of spotting on a dressing after surgery is common. Soaked dressings and persistent fever should be seen in your nearest Emergency Room. If there is redness or oozing from the incision, please call our office immediately.
